Finals!

Hey WAC! I know if you're like me, you are probably knee deep in books and papers and wishing you had some sort of magical time travel device. The end is so soon, yet so far away. We are nearly there, time to push on! Well, this year at the OSA has been an adventure. Moving in to the dining hall, setting up everything. Everything has been fun, yet challenging. I think the thing I am most proud of this year was seeing everyone finally getting to enjoy the student center again. Those seniors out there bet they were freshmen again, yeah? Its been awesome WAC! Have festive holidays everyone! I'll catch you on the flip side. Til later,

Tim

Goodbye Everyone...

i apologize...i am slightly late on my posting. i got caught up in working towards wrapping things up for the semester, and finishing out SEB interviews for the new Director of Variety Events. Congratulations to Alex Lating! She is an awesome addition to the office and will be bringing you great events next semester, so make sure to support her and her committee (i am sure she would love to have you on it)!!

On a more sad note, today marked the last Friday before the week everyone leaves me...which means my boring and uneventful life begins in about 7 days. i am going to miss everyone as they are off enjoying their winter vacations, but i will appreciate some time away from the office.

Now, before i say my final goodbye on my last blog of the semester, i am happy to say that next semester should provide a ton of exciting events for everyone on campus. So make sure to look for all the crazy advertising on campus!

Enjoy your winter break...

It's the week before finals. Papers are due, presentations are daily and tests before the finals are still being handed out. Tonight, the 8th, are two awesome events in the game center: the foosball and air hockey tournaments!! Registration for these events end at 6 PM and the tournaments start at 7 PM. Some of the people competing are the best foosballers on campus. Do you think you are? If so, get out to the game center and sign up! There are money prizes for the first three places.

As you walk around campus and inside the CAC take note of all the donation boxes. Food, warm accessories, toys, and books. All of these donations end this week so make sure you get everything to the donation boxes in time! All those in need will GREATLY appreciate all we have to give! :)

May your winters be relaxing and filled with snow!

It Just Keeps Getting Better

Hey there WAC (and friends),

The semester's winding down, but here in the Office of Student Activities, we're nowhere near finished. The Student Events Board threw a successful Snowflake Ball tonight (In fact, I snuck away from it for a couple seconds to come talk to you fine people. Don't you feel special?).

But wait, it gets better...

To keep the party going the Student Center is hosting two great events next week: its weekly Monday Night Football on December 7th, and Foosball and Air Hockey Tournaments on December 8th! Since we believe in keeping the party going until the very last second, the Student Events Board will be hosting a Madden Tournament on the last day of classes (December 10th).

But it wait, it's still getting better.........

We've decorated the Student Center to celebrate the holiday season. In the true spirit of the holiday season, we'll be giving away prizes at all of those great tournaments including MONEY (say goodbye to being a "broke college student").

On a more serious note, since this is my last post of the Fall Semester and the year 2009, let me just say that it has been an absolute privilege working in the Office and the Student Center. Serving the campus is what our office is all about, and we live to give the student body the opportunity to grow and have ridiculous amounts of fun all at the same time. And I promise you that the OSA will continue working to make sure that the campus truly continues to get better.

Happy Holidays :-)
Anjelica

PS. Now, back to the Snowflake Ball ;-)
Well the semester at WAC is almost over but there are a few last things going on. Firstly, as many of you know, the next President of Washington College will be announced tomorrow at 330 in Decker Theatre. Secondly, the theatre is showing Monologues From the Edge, which I was the lighting designer for on Friday and Saturday nights. The SEB also has a few events left including the Madden Tournament on December 10th. SEB is also hosting the Snowflake Ball tonight, the
3rd, which should prove to be fun and very loud as soon as Dan B lets me turn the music up all of the way. I would also like to point out that ZTA Sorority is hosting Pinkapalooza tomorrow night, Friday the 4th, which is raising money in order to benefit breast cancer treatments. Other than that, I would like to remind all of those out there that are part of a club that the OSA has a full tech service but you need to hand in the request form TWO WEEKS prior to the day of the event. Lastly, I would like to wish everyone happy holidays.

Fall is slipping away and I don't even mind.

So its a veritable race against the clock as I write this blog at the same time as the highly motivated and quick fingered Ed Hoegg. Who will win in the race for time?
Before I begin I just want to remind all of you reading tonight that it is the evening of the Snowflake Ball! This fabulous SEB event is going to be held in the Student Center, so put on your khakis or a dress and come experience the winter wonderland at 9pm.
The office is becoming suspiciously covered with books and binders as the OSA interns settle down to rock their finals and finish the semester with a bang. I love seeing everyone running around knowing that after these few weeks of hustle and bustle we can all go home for some eggnog by the fire and some well earned rest.
Today we saw a visit by the all mighty Board of Visitors and Governers which put us in a tizzy as we worked to make the student center look its best.

The highlights of the seasonal makeover?

  • Kiss your loved one under the mistletoe in the game room entrance- maybe it will help make up for kicking her/hir/hys/his butt at Smash Bros.
  • Check out the lights along the walkway by George's head
  • the live lemon tree by the steps to the dining hall!

This is my last blog of the season so let me wish everyone a happy Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and winter break!

Peace
Katie
